Kilmacrennan resident Niall Burns set for world Rally Championship return

Rally driver Niall Burns is set to return to the WRC this year

Sligo rally co-driver Niall Burns is set to participate in a round of the 2024 World Rally Championship this September.

Currently residing in Kilmacrennan Donegal, Burns will be the co-driver for Oman’s Hamed Al Wahaibi in Rally Greece, scheduled for September 4-6.

The arrangement was confirmed within the past two weeks.

This marks Burns' return to the WRC since his last appearance in 2017, and he is eager to compete again.

“The deal has only come to plan in the last two weeks, the opportunity came around and I’m delighted to take it. It was 2017 when I last competed in the World Rally championship in Wales and finally the doors open for me to come back in and I can’t wait to get going,” he said.
