Glenn Alcorn in action in Australia
It was an unfortunate end for Donegal man Glenn Alcorn who was forced to bow out of the Karri Rally in Australia following a broken gear selector.
The Lettermacaward man, in the Alcorn Motorsport prepared Toyota Corolla, took part in a competitive rally through the bush tracks near Manjimup in Western Australia.
But a broken gear selector on the penultimate stage put an end to his run at the weekend in what was a demanding rally with heavy rainfall turning the stages into very slippery conditions, with the final stage eventually cancelled due to the weather.
Alcorn, alongside Shaun McMaken, held a strong fifth overall throughout the event and led the two-wheel drive field by over nine minutes until he got stuck in second gear leaving the start of Stage 6.
Not wanting to block the stage on anyone else he took a slip road off the stage and made his way to the final control.
King Dylan from Australia, in his Toyota Yaris, finished first overall.
