The highly anticipated Premier Darts Club Youth League Finals took place on August 18 at the Premier Darts Club in Letterkenny where the county's top youth competitors faced off in a thrilling tournament with Donegal Town man Jackson Timoney emerging victorious on the day.

The tournament was played in a "best of five legs" format for the earlier rounds, with the final extending to "best of seven legs," making for some gripping, edge-of-your-seat moments.

The format began with the top four placings in the previous seven weeks' action securing seeded status, therefore, securing a quarter-final place. Gavin Herron, Jackson Timoney, Aaron McBride, and Riagán Drein were the lucky players in question.

The Preliminary round games saw Caidhán Dunnion edge out Eoghan Ward by three legs to two in a gripping game and Evan McCafferty also won via the same scoreline against Jamie Finlay.

The other two preliminary games saw both Caiden McFadden and Oisin Meehan overcome Caleb Patton and Matthew Finney respectively, both by scorelines of 3-0.

The quarter-finals saw number one seed Gavin Herron advance to the semi-final with a well-played 3-0 win over Caidhán Dunnion, showing his consistency and sharp finishing. Aaron McBride also showed some great form to overcome Evan McCafferty by the same scoreline to throw up a tasty semi-final.

The third quarter-final was a real ding-dong battle with Riagan Drein just coming up short against Caiden McFadden in a 3-2 scoreline.

Oisin Meehan and Jackson Timoney made up the final quarter-final with Jackson overcoming a gallant fight from Meehan.

Gavin Herron continued his dominant form in the semi-final, disposing of Aaron McBride 4-1, advancing into the final, while on the other side of the draw, Timoney proved unstoppable as he swept past an in-form Caidén McFadden with a fine 4-1 victory, securing his place in the final.

The final saw Herron go head-to-head with Jackson in a "best of nine legs" format. Both players brought their A-game, but Timoney managed to find that extra edge. After a keenly contested match, Timoney emerged victorious, defeating Herron 5-1 to be crowned champion.

The Shield competition saw Oisin Meehan and Caidhán Dunnion advanced to contest the final after overcoming some stiff competition. With both players being watched by a large attendance it was Caidhán Dunnion who managed to overcome Oisin Meehan to claim the Shield on a 3-1 scoreline.

The Youth League Darts Finals Day was a resounding success, with Jackson Timoney's stellar performance standing out as he claimed the inaugural tournament title.

On this display, the future of Donegal darts is in safe hands with all players highlighting the fierce competition and moments of brilliance that defined the day. With memorable victories and hard-fought contests, the event was a true celebration of the sport.
