Finn Valley athlete Liam McCay
Finn Valley AC’s Liam McCay has become the latest athlete from the club to earn an athletics scholarship in the United States.
McCay has embarked on an exciting new chapter in his career by joining the renowned Providence College in Rhode Island.
His impressive achievements include winning the Irish U-19 3000m in 2023, and clocking an outstanding time of 8:39.97 in Tullamore.
Earlier this year, he broke the 15-minute barrier in the 5k race at Armagh, finishing in 14:58. Additionally, he made a strong debut in the 10km cross country at the Mid Lancs Cross Country League at Westmorland Showgrounds, where he was the leading U-20 athlete and the second senior to finish.
At Providence College, McCay will join fellow Finn Valley AC athlete Cara Laverty, further strengthening the Donegal club's presence in the US collegiate athletics scene.
