Rhys Irwin continues to prove his worth as he competed at the British Superbikes Championship at the weekend at Cadwell Park in the UK.

The popular racer from Kilmacrennan has earned the right to race the factory supported Kawasaki Team Green in the hotly contested Supersport Championship.

The race got off to a wet start on Friday with Irwin showing great form getting his race machine up to P2 following a difficult qualifying.

Irwin started the race from the fourth row of the grid and fought hard to finish the race day P7 while he was hot in the mix with fractions of seconds separating the racers.

"Cadwell Park is one of my favourite tracks in the BSB calendar. It has been a hard season so far but I took the Kawasaki to the limit, getting up to P2 on Friday morning and finishing the race P7,” Irwin said.

“I have the hardest working racing team around me who is pulling out all the stops to get the bike set up for me and I am so grateful.

“I have to thank all the people who help me continue my racing dreams especially my local sponsors Mondello Supporters Club and James & Jacqui Gallagher of Oasis Bar, Northwest Customs, and Snugburrough Letterkenny.”

Irwin will be live again in two weeks' time on Eurosport racing at Oulton Park in the UK.
