It was an impressive weekend for Rhys Irwin who finished in second place on Sunday afternoon in Oulton Park following on from a fifth-place finish on Saturday.

The Kilmacrennan rider finished just over two seconds behind Richard Cooper in the wet conditions on Sunday.

Taking to social media the Donegal man said: That was one hell of a race. We made a last-minute decision on the grid to make a tyre change and it worked out in the end,” he said.

“It’s been a long time coming, but honestly, I’m just so happy that we managed to get the Gearlink Kawasaki back where it belongs.

“A very special thank you to the boys and girls at the Gearlink Kawasaki team for their work at the weekend and lots of love to my incredible sponsors who have simply kept my dream alive.

“Last but not least, thank you to each and everyone of you guys who have kept supporting and believing in me.”
