Irish boxers Dean Clancy, Jack Marley and Jude Gallagher will be among a star-studded line-up
A raft of Irish boxing stars past and present will be in attendance with the County Donegal Boxing Board to celebrate its annual awards function on Saturday night.
Iconic Irish punchers Charlie Nash and Paul McCloskey will be joined by recent Olympic boxers Daina Moorehouse, Dean Clancy, Jude Gallagher and Jack Marley.
The awards function takes place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny.
Sligo light-welter Clancy, Enniskerry flyweight Moorehoise, Two Castles featherweight Gallagher – who has trained at Raphoe Boxing Club at times – and Dublin heavyweight Marley are all set to be in attendance.
Legendary Derry lightweight Nash held British and European titles after turning pro in the wake of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, where he boxed for Ireland.
Nash lost out to Jim Watt for the world lightweight title at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow in March 1980. The Creggan man retired with a pro record of 25-5, 9KOs.
Dungiven’s McCloskey stopped Barry Morrison in the seventh round at the Aura Leisure Complex in Letterkenny to win the EBU European super lightweight title in 2010. He was 24-3 when he retired from the pro stage.
The County Donegal Boxing Board have extended thanks to Harvey's Point and Beleek China for their generous sponsorship.
