Donegal rally driver Eamonn Kelly
Donegal and Frosses rally driver Eamonn Kelly delivered an outstanding performance over the weekend, securing a class victory at the Hellendoorn Rally in the Netherlands.
Competing alongside co-driver Rory Kennedy, Kelly triumphed despite the challenge of racing on unfamiliar terrain and adapting to a newly acquired vehicle.
This marked Kelly’s debut in his BMW M3, yet both he and Kennedy navigated the Dutch stages with precision, claiming victory in both the HC1 and overall Historic categories.
By the finish, they held a 22.5-second lead over their nearest competitor, Antoine Biesheuvel.
The rally’s overall winner was former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen, father of three-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen.
