Further champions crowned at Donegal Boxing Championships

Seven further finals were boxed on Tuesday night in Letterkenny, where Paul McCloskey of Illies Golden Gloves, Ryan Glackin from St Bridget's and Carndonagh's Rocco McDaid were victorious

Seven further finals in the Donegal Boxing Championships were boxed on Tuesday night in Letterkenny.

The first batch of finals had taken place on Sunday in Carndonagh.

Recently-crowned Ulster Novice champion Paul McCloskey won an all-Donegal contest in the senior 67kgs final.

McCloskey put Ballyshannon’s Oisin Lee to the sword in the senior 67kgs final.

On Sunday in his semi-final in Carndonagh, McCloskey was also victorious against a Ballyshannon boxer when defeating Renat Khoolikov. There, McCloskey stopped his opponent in the opening round.

St Bridget’s Clonmany man Ryan Glackin took a unanimous decision verdict against Jake Cowan of Dukes in the Boy 2 43kgs final.

There was also joy for Rocco McDaid of Carndonagh, who scored an impressive win over Brian Anderson of Twin Towns, also on a unanimous decision,

John Joe Coyle (Cookstown), Danyla Rudnickij (Clonoe), Ronan McMullan (St John’s) and Michael Donaghy (Star of the Sea) were the other winners on the night.
