Caden Keenan, Hannah Lee Peoples are crowned Ulster 9 County champions

The Ulster 9 County Boy and Girl 1, 2, 3 finals took place on Sunday and Raphoe BC's Peoples and Keenan, of Twin Towns BC, won their finals at the Cookstown Community Centre.

Hannah Lee Peoples of Raphoe Boxing Club and Twin Towns’ Caden Keenan took victory in the ring at the Ulster 9 County Boy and Girl 1, 2, 3 finals on Sunday.

Peoples and Keenan won their finals at the Cookstown Community Centre.

Raphoe BC’s Peoples stopped Chloe Stitt Barnes in the Girl 1 43kgs final. Peoples stopped her opponent in the third round to claim an impressive win.

Keenan of Twin Towns took the Boy 3 50kgs final as he edged out Micah Patterson from East Down. Keenan was given the nod on a slender 2-1 split decision.

Michael McMonagle of St Bridget’s lost to Carrickmore’s Thomas McDonagh in the Boy 2 40kgs final and Cassie Lynch from Illies Golden Gloves was outgunned by Oakleaf’s Danni Doherty in the Girl 2 45kgs final.

The remaining finals will be booked in Cookstown on Tuesday night with St Bridget’s boxers Darragh McGonigle (Boy 1 41.5kgs) and Rowan Doherty (Boy 2 41.5kgs) and Dunfanaghy’s Eddie McBride (Boy 3, 59kgs) ready for action.

McBride overcame Ardoyne’s JP McColgan in his semi-final, while McGonigle stopped Samuel Ngwa from St George’s and Doherty blasted past St John Bosco’s Rowan Palmer.

Convoy’s Isabella Iwanek (Girl 1, 53kgs), Tegan McCarron of Carrigart (Girl 1, 75+kgs) and Roisin Hegarty (Girl 2 61kgs) - now with Twin Towns - were given walkover wins.
