Darragh Gallagher in action during the U-15 Northern Ireland Pool Championship
Ballybofey pool player Darragh Gallagher has been crowned the U-15 Northern Ireland pool champion.
Fourteen-year-old Gallagher, who is a member of both CYMS snooker club in Letterkenny and Donegal Pool Association and is the reigning County pool champion at U-15, U-18 and U-23 level, attends St Columba’s College in Stranorlar.
A total of 15 young players took part in the competition at the Antrim Sports Club with the final being last year’s winner Riley Patterson from Carrickfergus against Donegal’s Gallagher.
Patterson trailed 6-3 in the race to seven but he held his nerve to come back and take the game into a deciding frame.
In that decider, the current champion took control and was odds on to retain his title but an amazing high tariff trademark clearance from Gallagher won the frame and match to be crowned the champion.
Gallagher has since been selected to represent Northern Ireland at the EBA Nations Cup of Pool in Bridlington in April and the European Blackball pool championships in Ennis in November 2025.
