Andy Scanlon and Joe Carlin
Hundreds are expected to take part in a special 5k at Crossroads, Killygordon, on New Year’s Day to honour the late Joe Carlin and Andy Scanlon.
The charity 5k will aid five local sports clubs and will get underway from the CAKE Centre at 12 noon.
Andrew (Andy) Scanlon passed away suddenly aged 56 in December, 2020. Joe lost his battle with cancer in September, 2021, aged 54.
The route is designed for a leisurely walk or run, with free entry (donations only).
Registration opens at 11am at the CAKE Centre, where tea, refreshments, and a raffle with hampers and vouchers will follow.
“This is a chance to start the New Year with Joe and Andy in mind while supporting local youth,” said one of the organisers, Declan Carlin.
The event supports youth development at Curragh Athletic, Markievicz Camogie Club, Red Hughs GAA, Setanta, and Three Rivers Badminton Club.
