Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series J1000 champion Oisin McShane started the defence of his crown on a winning note.

At the Boggeragh Sprint, hosted by the Cork Motor Club, Oisin and Fabian McShane, a father-and-son duo, took victory.

The Illistrin pair, son Oisin driving and father Fabian calling the notes, edged rival Ryan Caldwell in a battle for the honours.

The weekend event saw Oisin return to the site of his first ever event a year ago.

The McShanes were quickest over the opening two loops and after three stages the margin was only 1.5 seconds. By the end, the McShane duo had 3.8 seconds to spare.

Once again in their VW Up!, the McShanes are aiming to have a similarly successful 2025.

In 2024, they secured the Sligo Pallets Forest Rally Championship J1000 and MIJRS.ie Junior Rally Series J1000 Championship title.

They were crowned as the first winners of the Craig Breen Foundation Award.
