Caoimhin Connolly was crowned champion at the National Stadium
Twin Towns boxer Caoimhin Connolly took a National Youth title on Saturday.
Connolly overcame Kurt Kinsella in Saturday’s 48kgs final at the National Stadium.
Twin Towns BC’s light-fly Connolly was on the right side of a 4-1 split decision to grab his first national title.
Connolly overcame Rico McInerney from Portlaoise in his semi-final on Friday night. Connolly was given a unanimous verdict by the judges.
Kinsella, of Monsktown BC in Dublin, also had his hand raised in a UD, beating Saints’ Noah Bacon.
There was little time for reflection as Connolly and Kinsella went to war with the Twin Towns ace coming out on top.
In 2022, Connolly was beaten by Wexford’s Kalib Walsh on a 3-2 split decision in a Cadet Championship final.

Connolly won gold at the 2024 William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland and he took the Billy ’Spider’ Kelly Cup for the best youth at the 2024 County Donegal Boxing Board Awards having taken the award for most improved boxer 12 months earlier.
