With final preparations underway for the McCafferty’s Bars-supported Donegal Forestry Rally on Sunday, February 16, the organising team is gearing up for a thrilling opening round of the Sligo Pallets Irish Forestry Championship.

Just over three weeks out from the event, Clerk of the Course Johnny Baird has expressed delight at the enthusiastic response from competitors.

Entries have been flooding in from across Ireland and even as far afield as the United States, lending the rally an impressive international flair. With numbers fast approaching the maximum limit of 110 starters, those wishing to take part are encouraged to submit their entries without delay.

Baird also extended his thanks to McCafferty’s Bars for their generous sponsorship of this year’s rally. The Donegal Town Bar will play host to the rally’s finish and will also stage a special Rally Appreciation Night on Friday, February 7. This event, organised by Declan Boyle and his team, will celebrate the volunteers who support motorsport events nationwide.

On the night, the Donegal Motor Club will officially launch the Forestry Rally, unveil the entry list, and present a selection of rally cars alongside several competing crews. The public is warmly invited to join in the festivities.

On rally day, Sunday, February 16, crews will gather in Donegal Town, with the service area located at the Donegal Mart. This venue offers excellent facilities for teams to prepare their vehicles ahead of the day’s challenges. The competition will consist of three stages, each repeated, in the Cavangarden and Pettigo areas.

Further details about this exciting event will be shared in the weeks ahead, promising an unforgettable start to the championship season.
