The victorious Donegal side that defeated Ballymoney & Limavady
Donegal 10
Ballymoney & Limavady 5
Donegal U-14s took on Limavady at the Moss Road on Saturday and produced a storming effort to see off their Ballymoney & Limavady and reach the Leona Harper Memorial Cup final.
From the start, both teams were well matched in tackles and rucks. Donegal worked well through phase play and counter-rucking from Ruby McGee and eventually Jessica Long found a gap after several attempts with a fine individual try, opening the scoreline for the home side.
After several stoppages due to injuries, the away side didn’t lie down and answered with an evasive run to score a corner try. The sides were level 5-5 at half time.
In the second half, it was much of the same intensity as Donegal tidied up their game and progressed with more vigour and strength than before, playing some impressive rugby against a side that didn’t want to lie down.
Jessica Long’s constant running was capitalised upon by Sarah McNally’s beautiful off load and that created the Donegal girls’ second try for Long.
