Brilliant Stephen Harron does it again as he retains The Con Sean Cup

Stephen Harron with Francis McShane after Stephen's super decider win

Stephen Harron retained the Storm Éowyn rearranged Con Sean title and added his name to the cup for the third time following a 6-1 win over Gavin Gallagher in the final, hitting a 110 checkout to win in style and he’s currently in top form and throwing some of the best darts in the land.

In the semi-finals he defeated 1999 and 2006 champion Kenneth Kennedy while Gavin Gallagher beat Dean Gallagher in a last leg decider finishing with a 12 dart leg to win!

This was the 25th Con Sean and had the biggest ever entry with 77 players paying to enter with the games played in Evelyn’s and Sliabh Liag Bars, as the original event was cancelled due to the recent storm it was rescheduled to the bank holiday Sunday.

Best youth of the tournament was Tyler Cunnea who put out local legend John Con McGinley in the opening round and we had a large number of youths taking part, the highest checkout was a 136 from Martin McMenamin.

Thanks to Michael Curran for his help running the event, and to Kenneth Kennedy for his help and to John Kelly for calling the final, to all players who marked matches and to anyone else who helped.

The trophies were sponsored again by Francis McShane. Thanks to Evelyn’s and Sliabh Bar and their staff for their hospitably and helping make this event so popular.

The large turnout took us by surprise as there were other events on so this lead to things running late so we will be prepared next year and get things started at an earlier time.

Finally thanks to all our sponsors, Heineken Ireland, LMC Fire Safety, Aidan McGinley Electrician, Sliabh Liag Boat Trips, Top Nets, John Kelly Painter, Secure Storage Letterkenny.
