Shane Toolan reaches 200m semi-finals at World Masters in Florida

The Tir Chonaill AC man bowed out at the semi-final phase in Alachua County on Wednesday night having also competed in the 60m dash while former Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill will take to the start line in the M45 3000m race walk later in the week

Shane Toolan reached the 200m semi-finals at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in Florida.

The Tir Chonaill AC man bowed out at the semi-final phase in Alachua County on Wednesday night.

At the Alachua County Sports and Events Center, Toolan finished fourth in his M65 200m heat, clocking 30.15 seconds.

Toolan crossed the line in 30.50 in the semi-final, missing out on qualification to the final.

In the 60m dash, Toolan finished fifth, in 8.74 seconds, in his heat, a semi-final spot eluding him by one place.

On Sunday, Letterkenny AC’s Barry Mackey took team silver with Ireland M60 in the 8000m with Mackey 14th in 35:44.94.

On Friday, former Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill will take to the start line in the M45 3000m race walk. Ó Domhnaill is based in Canada and attached to Killybegs AC.
