Cora Rooney was fifth in the 200m backstroke final at the Irish Open Swimming Championships.
Ballyshannon native Rooney finished in 2:19.93 in the final on Tuesday evening at the National Aquatic Centre.
The Swilly Seals swimmer, in lane 6, came through her heat in 2:21.34 before clocking 2:19.53 - a new personal best over the distance.
Rooney was also in the 100m backstroke final, finishing sixth and she still has the 50m version to come.
Gabriela Georgieva took the 200m gold in 2:13.07 with Lottie Cullen second in 2:14.67.
Maria Godden took the bronze when finishing in 2:17.08 with Annabelle Wilkinson going through in fourth in a time of 2:18.39.
In Sunday’s 100m backstroke final, Rooney finished in 1:04.51 for sixth.
Rooney, who is a part of the Swim Ireland National Centre Limerick squad, clocked 1:04.61 in her heat and touched the wall in 1:04.34 in the semi-final.
Cullen won the 100m backstroke gold in 1:01.56 while silver went to Godden, who finished in 1:02.10. A time of 1:02.37 earned Georgieva bronze.

In 2023, Rooney competed in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke at the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.
