Months of preparation and hard training were finally put to the test on Saturday as Crannóg Buí National School’s eagerly anticipated Pedal for the Point event took place.

Almost 80 cyclists set off from picturesque Loughros Point to take in the 80km route which took in Narin/Portnoo, Leitirmacaward, Dooherty and Glenties along the way before arriving back in Ardara to cross the finish line.

Funds from the cycle will go towards the school’s new playing space and the good news is that planning permission for the development was granted just last week.

The likes of former Donegal GAA stars Anthony Molloy, Paddy McGrath and Damian Diver all took part while last year’s Donegal International Rally modified section winner Declan ‘Milkman’ Gallagher was also one of the competitors.

“It’s just great that the weather was kind and along the route and various stop offs the support was brilliant,” Molloy, also a local councillor, said.

“The organsiers have put so much work into this and the setting as we set off this morning in Loughros Point was simply stunning.

“There were refreshments along the way and even the food after in the Parish Centre was greatly appreciated”.

And while the race has now been run you can still sponsor the event at the following link
