Inishowen karate squad take off on World Championship mission to Malmö

Members of the Burnfoot-based Ulster Karate-Do Federation squad are eyeing world karate championship glory in Sweden this week.

The UKF squad had their final training session at Aileach Community Centre on Sunday before travelling as part of the World Union of Karate Federations Ireland team to compete in the 13th WUKF World Karate Championships in Malmö.

With thousands of entries of all ages from around the world, the five-day event will be staged at the Malmö Arena from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 July, kicking off with an opening ceremony this evening.

Malmö Arena is the second largest indoor arena in Sweden, with a capacity of over 15,000, and has twice hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 and 2024.
