After a two-week break, Raphoe welcomed NICS to the Royal & Prior for another Linden Cup clash in front of a great home crowd.
Raphoe started brightly, moving the ball well and creating early chances, but it was NICS who struck first, converting a well-worked penalty corner. The visitors then added three more goals from set pieces before half-time to take control of the game.
Half-time: Raphoe 0–4 NICS
The second half saw a much-improved Raphoe side. They dominated large spells, won several penalty corners, and eventually got their reward when Gavin Lecky’s shot was saved and Jake McKnight reacted quickest to slot home.
Raphoe kept pushing, showing great energy and possession play, but the NICS goalkeeper was in top form to deny any further comeback.
Plenty of positives to take into next week as Raphoe look to build on that strong second-half performance.
