Donegal duo to compete at European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships

Donegal swimmers Anna Hennessy and Eoin Rooney are set to take part in the European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships.

The Championships begin this Saturday, October 25, in Albufeira, Portugal and will be held until Monday, November 3.

Anna, from Letterkenny, and Ballyshannon man Eoin are part of a seven-person Irish squad from the Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Organisation (IDSSO) who will travel to Portugal.

They are both affiliated to the Letterkenny-based Swilly Seals and Nemo Special Olympics Swim Club, operated out of the Finn Valley Leisure Centre.

The coaching team includes Eoin’s mother, Sinead Donagher, along with Niall Molloy from Dublin and Johanna Tilly Rock from Kildare.

Anna and Eoin have competed regularly at international level, including the 2023 European Championships in Italy and 2024 World Championships in Turkey.
