Luke McAteer had a 109.5/1 double at Dundalk
Rathmullan jockey Luke McAteer was toasting a big double on Friday night at Dundalk.
McAteer enjoyed a 109.5/1 double with impressive wins.
McAteer’s first winner was aboard the 11/2 Stardayz, trained by Ciaran Murphy, in the the Extra Places Everyday At BetVictor Fillies Maiden.
McAteer had three-and-a-half lengths to spare on 5/2 Gold Wing by the end.
“She ran badly here the other day,” McAteer said.
“Gavin Ryan rode her and he told me she didn't stay and to just keep the bit fresh in her mouth.
“Ciaran just said to keep it simple, if you want to break and make it if there is no pace just do that.”
The Donegal jockey followed up with success on the 16/1 Capla Knight for Patrick McKenna in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap.
McAteer won by half-a-length from Miracles In May (15/2).
