Mark English goes into the National Indoor Championships in good stead after a useful run in a world class field in Poland.
The Finn Valley AC man finished sixth in the 800m at the Copernicus Cup in Toruń.
English crossed the line in 1:46.89 with Great Britain’s Elliot Giles winning in 1:45.42.
Andreas Kramer of Sweden was second (1:45.71) with Collins Kipruto from Kenya third (1:45.94).
It was a top-level line up at Arena Toruń with Polish stars Marcin Lewandowski and Adam Kszczot also in the running.
English return to action at the weekend when he takes on the National Indoor Championships in Abbotstown.
Last Wednesday night, English made a winning return at the National Indoor Arena, where he won a 400m race at the NIA Live Meet.
English, up against 200m specialist Marcus Lawlor from Clonliffe Harriers, won that race in 47.21 seconds.
Last year, English set new Irish 800m outdoor (1:45.71) and indoor (1:46.10) records and competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In 2022, the 28-year-old will compete at both the World and European Championships.
