Finn O'Neill was in top form at the weekend

Lifford-Strabane AC’s Finn O’Neill won the English Under-17 Boys’ Heptathlon at the weekend.

Competing in Sheffield, O’Neill took gold with a significant 4,902 points.

This was a significant performance by O’Neill.

On day one, a 13.34m shot put had O’Neill with a marginal lead.

There were just four points in it, but O’Neill powered over the 60m hurdles to win in 8.27 seconds - the fourth fastest time in the UK in 2022.

O’Neill eaed over 3.53m in the pole vault to take him into an unassailable lead.

In the 1000m, O’Neill clocked 2:44.15 to get the job done.

Iolo Grant took silver with 4,310 points while Ethan Ellis won bronze with 4,307 points.
