Donegal's Fastest Child: Winners crowned on evening of excitement

There were joint overall winners as 42 schools took part in Donegal's Fastest Child, with the final held at Finn Valley AC on Wednesday

The Finn Valley campus was a hive of activity on Wednesday as the quest for Donegal’s Fastest Child concluded.

Competitions were held in four categories on the Patsy McGonagle Track with children completing 35m sprints.

The title of Donegal’s Fastest Child is shared with Liam Patton of St Patrick’s NS, Drumkeen and Justin Bogan from Castlefin NS sprinting the distance in 4.37 seconds.

Abbey Gallagher, representing Acres NS, won the 5th/6th class girls section in 4.50 seconds.

Niall Mhór, Killybegs pupil Mila Rosé Conwell-Boyle was the winner of the 3rd/4th class boys category in 4.47 seconds while Ethan Buchanan from Illistrin NS took the 3rd/4th class boys title in 4.51 seconds.

Trials were held in schools across the county before the action came to a close at Wednesday’s big finale, hosted by Finn Valley AC.

A total of 42 schools took part in Donegal’s Fastest Child with the clock now beginning to tick down towards the Donegal Primary Schools Track & Field finals on May 18.
