On a night when she won two medals, Roisin Flanagan wiped out a long-standing Finn Valley AC record at the NCAA Championships in Michigan.

Flanagan won a 1500m silver and 5000m bronze medal

Flanagan, competing for Adams State University, took second in the 1500m at the NCAA Division 2 Championships and set a new club record in the process.

The Gortin woman finished in 4:15.88, pipped at the line by Yasmine Hernandez of Colorado State University Pueblo, who crossed the line in 4:15.72.

Flanagan won her heat on Thursday evening in 4:22.96.

Saturday’s final saw Flanagan shave almost seven seconds off Camilla Harron’sFinn Valley AC record.

Castlefin woman Harron clocked 4:22.60 when running in the US in 1987.

Flanagan’s time puts her seventh in the all-time meet history and the time was narrowly outside her personal best of 4:15.50, timed just before she became a Finn Valley AC athlete last summer.

She has already secured qualification for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Flanagan followed up with bronze in the 5000m, finishing in 16:11.43.
