Donegal jockey Oisin Orr is the new stable jockey with Richard Fahey’s team.

The Rathmullan man, the 2017 champion apprentice, succeeds Paul Hanagan, who ended his term this week.

The 24-year-old Orr has big shoes to fill, but is undaunted.

Orr said: “Richard rang me to come over for a week and try it – 'See how you get on,' he said. I've loved it so far and I've no plans on going home.

"I'm living in Richard's house at the minute, but hopefully in the near future I'll get my own place and we'll go from there.

"I've been getting rides every day which is great. That doesn't happen in Ireland unless you are stable jockey. I've no plans on going home. I'm loving it."

Orr had two wins for Fahey last week, winning on Clearpoint (evens) at Ayr and The Platinum Queen (100/30) at Ripon.

Fahey said: "We had Oisin over so he could have a look at us - and we could have a look at him. It's worked out great and I'm really looking forward to working together now."

In a hugely successful partnership, Hanagan saddled 939 British winners for Fahey, winning the jockeys’ championship in 2010 and 2011.

Meanwhile, Dylan Browne-McMonagle from Letterkenny recorded a win at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.

Browne-McMonagle took the 5/2 joint favourite Startedwithakiss to victory by almost two lengths in the Leopardstown Apprentice Handicap for Joseph O’Brien.

Browne-McMonagle and Startedwithakiss saw off 12/1 chance Arctic Blaze.
