Fintan Dewhirst recorded a massive new personal best time to win the 400m hurdles at the Franconville Under-18 international in France.
On Sunday, Tir Chonaill AC man Dewhirst ran 52.98 seconds to take the gold.
Dewhirst, whose previous best in the event was 54.40 seconds, was an impressive winner.
Frence duo Wassim Taouil, 53.16 seconds, and America Dutrevis, 53.29 seconds, were second and third respectively.
Dewhirst, a student at St Columba’s Comprehensive in Glenties, was fourth with 120m to go, but a superb finish saw him cross the line in first.
The 17-year-old is hoping to learn of his selection for the forthcoming European Under-18 Championships in Jerusalem in the coming days.
