Killian Gribben has been named in the Ireland squad for next month’s FIBA European Championships.
Gribben is one of 12 players chosen by Ireland Under-20 head coach Paul Fleming for the Championships, which take place in Georgia from July 15-24.
Earlier this year Ireland were drawn in Group C, alongside Latvia, Hungary and Bulgaria with the opening game seeing them up against Hungary on July 15.
Two days later, they face Latvia before rounding off the group phase against Bulgaria on July 20.
Letterkenny man Gribben, who stands a towering 6’10”, was recently awarded a scholarship at Siena College in New York having been at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut for the last academic year.
Last summer, Gribben played for Ireland in the FIBA European Challenge 2021 in Slovakia.
He played with Letterkenny Blaze and LYIT Donegal and also had success at schools level with St Eunan’s College.
“Although we have a difficult draw, we won't fear anyone in our group,” Fleming said.
“We are lucky to have an experienced group, who are consistently playing basketball at a very high level.
“Irish basketball is on the up and we hope to continue raising expectations and leave the green jersey in a better place for the next generation.”
