Maria Kealy was able to enjoy home comforts at a training camp with the Ireland U18 Women’s Basketball squad.
The squad was based at the ATU Donegal campus in Letterkenny late last week.
The Irish girls, including Letterkenny woman Kelly took part in a three-day camp ahead of the preparations for the upcoming FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship next month.
Tommy O’Mahoney’s side used the state-of-the-art basketball courts and facilities that are available with the ATU Donegal Sports Centre.
Kealy, who plays for Donegal NL and Letterkenny Blaze, has been named as the vice-captain with Sarah Hickey as captain.
Ireland played a challenge game versus a select of Donegal National League players and ATU Donegal students on Thursday morning.
As a selected Basketball Ireland Centre of Excellence, ATU Donegal invited along under-18 women’s players from local basketball clubs within the north west region for a masterclass training session on Thursday afternoon with the Ireland team and coaches.
Young players from Letterkenny Blaze, Mulroy Hoops, Sligo All-Stars, Donegal Town Basketball Club and Kilcar Basketball Club took part.
Ireland face a two-game series against Holland in the National Basketball Arena on July 25 and 26 before they head off to Sofia, Bulgaria on July 30 to compete in the FIBA u18 Women's European Championships.
