Donegal athletes had a golden weekend at the Irish Life Health National Masters Track and Field Championships in Tullamore.
Twelve gold medals were won by Donegal athletes on Saturday.
Lifford-Strabane AC’s Damian Crawford won two golds. Crawford won gold in the M50 heavy hammer when throwing out to 12.09m.
Crawford was also the M50 shot put gold medalist, throwing a best of 11.70m.
Robert Anderson of Tir Chonaill AC left with gold in the M50 hammer and took bronze from the discus and heavy hammer events. In winning hammer gold, Anderson recorded a best effort of 28.05m.
Tir Chonaill AC’s Martin Cunningham won the M40 1500m in 4:15.57 while Tir Chonaill AC’s Geraldine Stewart won the W40 shot put thanks to a 11.65m throw.
Finn Valley AC trio Brian Ó Domhnaill, Catriona Devine and Bosco Reid were all celebrating golds.
Ó Domhnaill led the way in the M40 5000m walk when finishing in 26:12.90. Devine won the W45 1500m, the Castlefin woman clocking 5:10.59 with Reid winning the M60 shot when reaching out to 11.46m. Reid was the M60 hammer silver medalist when throwing 33.02m.
Their club colleague Noreen Bonner added a silver in the 3000m.
Milford AC’s Martin Kerr won the M70 5000m in 21:27 while Martin Mooney of Inishowen AC left with the M35 shot put gold and javelin silver.
Olympian YAC’s Karen O’Donnell won the W40 100m in 13.60 seconds and added the 400m gold later in the day.
Martin O’Donnell won the M45 triple jump, Patrick O’Donnell won the M35 100m hurdles in 1:07.14. Michelle O’Donnell threw 25.23m to win the F40 javelin whole Lee Barlow’s 32.83m earned the M35 javelin gold.
There were silvers for Karen O’Donnell in the 200m, Michelle O’Donnell in the discus and Patrick O’Donnell in the long jump with Martin O’Donnell pocketing a bronze in the 100m.
Tir Chonaill AC’s John Cannon took bronze in the M65 1500m.
