A stunning performance in Berlin saw Caitriona Jennings finish third at the IAU 100km World Championships on Saturday.
The Letterkenny woman took bronze after finishing the gruelling distance in 7:07:16.
Alongside third in the IAU 100km, Jennings was also the first in the World Masters section.
If ratified, Jennings’ time would be a new national record for both 50 mile and 100km distances.
Jennings was bested only by French duo Floriane Hot and Camille Chaigneau.
Hot won gold in 7:04:03 and Chaigneau claimed silver when running 7:06:32.
Jennings, who competed in the women’s marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, won the Anglo Celtic Plate over 100km at Mondello Park. There, she finished in 7:43:01 with Saturday’s performance smashing 35 minutes off the time.
