Modified success for Kevin Eves in Wexford

Pettigo man Kevin Eves was the leading modified driver at the Wexford Stages Rally

Kevin Eves was celebrating again at the Wexford Stages Rally at the weekend.

Eves, with Chris Melly on the notes, won class 14 after a pulsating two days.

Pettigo man Eves led the modified crews and finished fourth overall in his trusted Toyota Corolla Twin Cam.

Eves had 42.1 seconds to spare on Richard Moffett. A puncture on the Starlet cost Moffett, who had been third, crucial time.

Former WRC Mikki Hirvonen was third in the modified section, the Finnish competitor behind the wheel of a Mk2 Escort.

Declan Gallagher was going well in the initial stages, but a collision with straw bales resulted in a damaged radiator that ended his involvement.

Gallagher was in fifth when he exited on special stage 8.

The Wexford duo of Andrew Purcell and Andy Hayes, in a Skodia Fabia R5, where the overall winners, trumping by 31.2 seconds from Thomas Stafford and Thomas Scallan in a Darrian T90 GTR.
