Roisin Flanagan sets new Donegal 5k road record

Roisin Flanagan of Finn Valley AC set a new Donegal 5k road record on Saturday.

The Finn Valley AC woman clocked 15 minutes and 42.8 seconds at an elite run in Tennessee.

Flanagan and her twin sister Eilish were in action at the SugarRun 5k at the Wolf River Nature Area in Germantown, Tennessee.

Roisin Flanagan was fourth in the event won by Julie-Anne Staehli in 15:33.0.

Eilish Flanagan followed up in fifth, crossing the line in 15:44.7.

The first Sugar Run held in 2006 had 37 participants and raised $2,500 and the event has swelled to become a leading event now attracting Olympic-level participants.
