In Pictures: Harley of Drimard - A History launched in Frosses Hall

Family and friends came together for a fantastic community event and a celebration of the social history of the village

Jason Harley launched his family history book Harley of Drimard - A History in Frosses Hall last Saturday night. Colm Kelly of Kelly's Sunday Dander was on hand to capture the event in photos.

The venue was packed to capacity for the great family and community event.

Mary Coughlan acted as MC for the evening and renowned local historian Mrs Helen Meehan officially launched the book.

Fr James Sweeney spoke on behalf of the parish, giving special thanks to Joe and Jason Harley for all they do for the area.

Jason gave a rundown on how the book went from being an idea ten years ago to its launch now.

The hall committee provided refreshments and Sean and Paddy Ward played a few tunes to round off a wonderful occasion.

The book is a fantastic look at the Harley family history from the 1750s to the present time.
This exploration of almost 300 years gives a great insight into generations of the Harley family in the townland of Drimard. And it is also a wonderful social history of Frosses and indeed rural Ireland that would make a great read for anyone interested in history and genealogy.

The books can be bought from any member of the Harley family or by contacting Jason Michael Harley on facebook.
