In Pictures: Leaving Cert results in Buncrana - one student obtained eight H1s

Leaving Cert students celebrated their results in Buncrana - among them Eoghain Strain with 625 points and Niamh Harkin who captained the All-Ireland winning Donegal Minor team

As in the previous three years Scoil Mhuire has a student who has obtained 625 points.  Eoghain Strain obtained no less than eight H1 grades at higher level.

The school also obtained H1 grades at higher level across 18 leaving certificate subjects – a testament to the excellent teaching and learning in the school.

The LCA class obtained nine distinctions.

It was a busy year for Niamh Harkin who captained the Donegal Minor team which recently won the All Ireland.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Such results can only be achieved through a combination of hard work by students and teachers.

“I am very confident that many of our students will now receive their first preference at UCAS and CAO.

“Students will know their UCAS positions today and a significant number of our students have applied through UCAS this year.

“Scoil Mhuire had such a successful year in sport last year and for our students to do so well today in their academic subjects is just the icing on the cake!

“I am very proud of our students and staff today.  I wish each student good luck with the next step in life’s journey.  I congratulate the parents/guardians as they supported their child and the school throughout the Leaving Certificate programme.  I hope today they realise that it has all been worth it!

“There are so many pathways nowadays to get to your ultimate dream and there is no reason why each and every student cannot reach their ultimate ambition in life.

“My only advice is to enjoy the journey as you go.”
