The long tradition of Harvest Fair Day was celebrated in Glenties on Tuesday, with thousands flocking to the town to enjoy the occasion. Photographer Philip Mulligan captured the carnival atmosphere in photos.
It followed 10 days of Harvest Fair Festival activities ranging from the opening day cycle and kids tractor run to concerts, sporting events, dancing arts and crafts, a festival parade, family fun and more.
This is traditionally a time when many of the town’s diaspora return for a visit home. And with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, there was many a chat and catch-up among people who had not seen each other for the last few years.
Even the weather was on side, with the brief Indian summer coinciding with the festival.
There were around 140 stalls on the streets of Glenties for Harvest Fair Day itself, and a fantastic carnival atmosphere throughout the festival.
