There was great community support for Malin GAA’s annual 5K run/walk in memory of John McLaughlin (Rustard), a coach at the club who died in 2017.

It was another fantastic occasion with close to 200 walkers, runners and joggers all braving the elements.

A club spokesperson said: “Congratulations to all the winners of each category, but once again it wasn’t all about collecting silverware or reaching personal best. It was all in honour of a great club man who means so much to everyone involved in our great club and is still greatly missed.”

Stephen Byrne and Aobh O'Hare were first home in the men’s and women’s categories. Byrne crossed the line in a time of 21:35 followed by Paul McLaughlin (21:58) and Ciaran Collins (22:03).

O'Hare led the women home with a time of 24:14 followed by Aoife O'Hare (24:15) and Anne Marie Ballantyne (26:00).
