Gairmscoil Chú Uladh in Ballinamore have bid a fond farewell to teacher Mr Enda Mannion on his retirement after 38 years.

In a heartwarming video, Mr Mannion can be seen walking through the school corridors unsuspectingly before being greeted by students and staff giving a round of applause.

Mr Mannion was educated in Scoil Phobail Mhic Dara, Carna, Galway, before attending Thomond College, Limerick. He received a Bachelor of Technology from NCCA.

Gairmscoil Chú Uladh posted: “We quietly said farewell to a teacher who has been a part of our school community for 38 years. He chose to leave without fanfare - but his impact, influence and the countless lives he impacted both inside and outside of the classroom will not be forgotten.

“He will be deeply missed, and we wish him peace, joy, and fulfilment in this next chapter.

Slán a Mháistir Ó Mainín.”

…..

“Inniu, d’fhág muid slán go ciúin le múinteoir a bhí linn sa Ghaeltacht Láir le 38 bliain. Roghnaigh sé imeacht gan mórán torainn - ach ní dhéanfaidh muid dearmad ar a thionchar, treoir agus tiomantas taobh istigh agus taobh amuigh den seomra ranga riamh.

Cronóidh muid go mór thú a Mháistir agus guímid gach síocháin, áthas agus sonas ort sa chéad chaibidil eile. Slán a Mháistir.”
