Donegal County Council is hosting an information event in Bundoran’s Town library this Friday to provide information on the supports available to refurbish Vacant and Derelict properties.
Grants up to €84,000 are available to refurbish vacant and derelict properties that have been vacant for two years.
A similar event will be hosted by Áislann Chill Cartha Teoranta, Kilcar, on Thursday.
The Bundoran and Kilcar events will run from 11am-2pm and will have officials of the council in attendance.
A third event will be held at the Donegal Public Services Centre on Monday April 29 from 2-5pm.
Members of the public and interested parties are invited to come along and get further information on a number of supports available and no appointments are needed.
Cllr Michael McMahon from Bundoran said that it was an important event especially for Bundoran as the resort had many buildings at present that were either vacant or derelict.
He added that a member from the local credit union will also be in attendance.
The initiatives on offer include:
Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme
Grants up to €84,000 available to refurbish vacant and derelict properties that have been vacant for two years or more and will be the owner’s principal private residence or made available to rent.
Repair and Lease Scheme
Financial support of €80,000 per unit available to bring vacant properties back into use to lease to Donegal County Council for social housing in areas where there is a need.
Conservation Advice Grant Scheme – Expressions of Interest
Expressions of interest can be made to help fund the cost of having a conservation expert provide advice to refurbish vacant traditional farmhouses that are availing of the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme.
