Redress Deputy Ward begins detailed review of revised I.S. 465 standard

“At this early stage, it would be premature to draw conclusions; I will provide an update to homeowners as soon as possible”
100% Redress TD Charles Ward has welcomed the publication of the revised I.S. 465 standard, describing it as an important development, while cautioning that careful analysis is required before any conclusions are reached.
The updated standard for the defective concrete blocks redress scheme has just been released, and Deputy Ward says sufficient time must now be allowed for a thorough examination of its contents.
He confirmed that he and his team have commenced a comprehensive technical review of the document, assessing its provisions, implications, and practical application.
Deputy Ward said the revised standard carries significant importance for homeowners, industry professionals, and policymakers, making it essential that any public commentary is informed by detailed evidence and expert assessment.
“At this early stage, it would be premature to draw conclusions,” he said. “A comprehensive understanding serves as the basis for informed decision-making. Therefore, it would be unfair to the situation to form an opinion based on a superficial reading of the document.”
The review will focus on a range of key issues, including material performance, testing protocols and long-term structural considerations.
TD Ward said consultation with relevant experts will form part of the assessment process to ensure all aspects of the revised standard are fully understood.
Once the review has been completed, Deputy Ward said he will communicate a considered position on the document and its implications.
“I will provide an update to the homeowners as soon as possible,” he explained.
In the meantime, he urged all stakeholders to approach the revised standard with diligence and allow adequate time for a proper evaluation.
