Today’s Donegal Junior League Premier Division clash between Keadue Rovers and Castlefin Celtic was abandoned shortly before half-time due to a linesman’s flag allegedly being thrown at the game’s referee.
In a heated encounter at Central Park, it’s understood that match official Alistair Gourley called a halt to matters with the scoreline locked at 0-0 after the flag was launched his direction.
When contacted by DonegalLive, Donegal League secretary Nigel Ferry would only confirm that the game was indeed stopped on 37 minutes. However, he said he wasn’t in a position to make further comment until he’d received Gourley’s official report.
Depending on what that report contains, the matter may then have to be passed on the league's disciplinary committee.
