Emma Doherty plays as Ireland U19s overcome England

Emma Doherty started on Tuesday as the Republic of Ireland Under-19s defeated England.

In a challenge game at St George's Park, Jessie Stapleton and Jenna Slattery netted in a 2-1 win.

Buncrana woman Doherty featured from the start in an excellent win for the Girls in Green, which came after a training camp.

Doherty is gearing up for a new Women's National League season with Sligo Rovers.

A student at IT Sligo, Doherty signed a multi-year deal at The Showgrounds and scored 11 goals in her debut season in the WNL.

Last year, Doherty played 11 times for Ireland.

On March 4, Sligo Rovers host WNL newcomers Shamrock Rovers in their 2023 opener.
