Minus the services of top-scorer Jamie O’Donnell through injury, the Inishowen side put up a brave fight at the AUL Complex, with goalkeeper Sean Og Boyle impressing. However, goals in extra-time through Josh Weldon and Adam Zivkovic sealed the progression to the last eight for the Drumcondra-based team over Cockhill, who had beaten Letterkenny Rovers in the Ulster decider.
Beforehand, Cockhill defeated Carndonagh, Ballyjamesduff and Bonagee United, before defeating Clonee United in the National Round of 32 stage to make it back-to-back appearances in the last 16.
"While the boys will be disappointed this year's SFAI Cup journey is over, they have again represented the Club and the IYSL brilliantly with a deep run in the competition," read a social media post from the club. "Well done to all the players for their commitment, to all coaches who helped prepare the team and all parents for their continued support."
