Sligo Rovers lost out to Shamrock Rovers in the opening game of the Women’s Premier Division at The Showgrounds on a 2-1 scoreline, where Republic of Ireland international Aine O’Gorman headed a 92nd minute.

Three Buncrana natives featured for the home side, with Emma Doherty starting and sisters Jodie and Keri Loughrey coming off the bench in the 64th and 70th minutes respectively. Within 10 minutes of the second of those chances, the Sligo Rovers twitter account tweeted "Loughrey sisters really growing into the game".

However, it was the Dubliners who won out, with Shaun Fox having opened the scoring for the visitors on four minutes before Sligo got back on terms with a goal from Emma Hansberry.

Tomorrow, Monday, the Loughreys will line out for Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana, in the FAI Schools Senior Girls National Cup Final (Under 20, Large Schools) against St Attracta’s Community School, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo at Monaghan United FC's Gortakeegan, with kick-off at 1pm.
