University of Galway celebrate their win

There was delight for Donegal duo Mollie Page and Aisling Irwin with University of Galway in the WSCAI Kelly Cup final.

At Frank Cooke Park in Dublin, University of Galway defeated DCU 2-0.

It sealed a first Kelly Cup success in 15 years for UG.

Midfielder Page, from Kilmacrennan, plays her club football with Bonagee United, whom she helped to a League and Cup double having joined for the latter part of 2022.

Defender Irwin, who lives in Ramelton, has enjoyed her first taste of playing for UG and is expected to line out for Letterkenny Rovers’ new senior ladies team this year.

In Wednesday’s final, Muireann Devaney opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and Ellie O’Flaherty double the lead to seal the victory on 67 minutes.
