Donegal trio make Ireland Down Syndrome Futsal squad

After the final talent day was held recently, three Donegal players have been chosen by head coach Paul Smyth

Hughie Sweeney, Daniel O'Reilly and David Crawford.

Three players from Donegal have been named on the Ireland Down Syndrome Futsal squad.

Hughie Sweeney from Gweedore, Letterkenny’s Daniel O’Reilly and Donegal Town native David Crawford are all included.

The trio play with the Donegal Down Syndrome team, who train most Saturdays at the Aura Leisure Complex in Letterkenny. Tony McNamee and Danny Ferry are the lead coaches with this group.

Hughie and Daniel also play for the North West Special Olympics Club, under the direction of coaches Pat McLaughlin and Natalie McFadden.

The SUDS Open European Championship for Down Syndrome Football take place in Padova, Italy in September with the Trisome Games for Down Syndrome Football being held next March in Antalya, Turkey.

Letterkenny woman Meg Carr also attended the talent days.

The Ireland  Down Syndrome Futsal Head Coach is Paul Smyth.
