With the score locked 1-1 at full time, courtesy of goals from Noel Gavigan and Keelan Gillen, penalties beckoned and Kildrum went on to score four out of five while Donegal had two of their four saved by Chris O'Donnell.

Jamie McKinney created the first chance of the game but saw his effort cleared off the line by an alert Ciaran O'Reilly after five minutes.

Gareth Colhoun was on the end of the next big chance in the game but fired narrowly wide after a short pass from Oisin McFadden with 15 minutes gone.

Donegal went in front with just over 20 minutes gone as a set-piece delivery went all the way in for Noel Gavigan. His lobbed ball in from the half-way line caught the Kildrum rearguard unawares and with Chris O'Donnell misjudging the flight of the ball, it nestled into the back of the net.

Kildrum weren't behind for too long though as they found their equaliser with ten minutes to go in the half.

Keelan Gillen was tripped up in the area by Oisin Gorrell and stepped up himself to try his luck from 12 yards but saw his penalty saved but he was alert to prod home the rebound.

Davy Graham found the roof of the net in the aftermath of the equaliser while Gillen narrowly lost out in a race with Campbell as the sides went in level at the interval.

The second-half didn't offer much in terms of any sort of goal threat as both sides did ask questions of each other but neither could gain the upper hand.

Kildrum created a couple of openings during the final 15 minutes but Campbell wasn't to be beaten by efforts from Frank McBrearty and James McNulty as extra time was on the horizon.

Kildrum Tigers had the only big opportunity throughout the 20 minutes of extra time and were inches away from a potential winner as William Lynch saw an effort bounce down onto the line after cracking off the underside of the crossbar.

Penalties beckoned and it was those in red and black who would take the first spot kick.

Both Johnny McGinty and Dermot Slevin found the back of the net with Michael Lynch doing likewise while Eoin Slevin saw his spot kick saved.

The crossbar made another appearance to deny William Lynch as Joe Leape converted to put Donegal on level terms after three penalties apiece.

Frank McBrearty put Kildrum back in front and a Chris O'Donnell save to deny Oisin Gorrell put the pressure on the next penalty taker. James McNulty was up and calmly fired his spot kick beyond the dive of Campbell to win the cup for his side.
